I received a call today from someone (call centre background - sounded like fake american) claiming to be from 'Simply Energy' or an energy company - phone number 03 8609 0649. He said that if I was a member of NRMA he was offering a 21% discount on electricity and gas. He asked if I was a member of NRMA to which I responded 'yes I am'. I also responded 'okay, that is great' to his discount statement. He asked if I was receiving a discount for any energy provider and then hung up. I called the number and found it to be suspicious, it sounded like a recorded message from the Simply Energy message bank - the volume was very feint.
Potentially a scam.

It could be a fishing scammer as well. I called them back, an Indian accent man stating they operated in South Africa on behalf of a Victoria company, but unlike most people posted, as he spelled the company name as Simpry Energy in stead of Simply Energy.
